Geriatrics - Care for our Elderly

Geriatric medical care is for #patients above the age of 60 yrs in India. However, #WHO defines the geriatric age group as people above 65 yrs old. The geriatric #population is expected to rise over 1 billion by #2022.

Geriatric care has been researched over the years and found to be different in a lot of aspects as compared to the #adult age group medical care. It is important for a #geriatrician to have a holistic approach and provide the required and essential medical care.

Geriatric age group has the same #health problems as the adult population to an extent. However, the presenting complaints / symptoms / problems can be different and associated with underlying varied physical and psychological ailments.
